The North Downs Way at Ashford, Kent

Information on The North Downs Way National Heritage Trail, running 153 miles from Farnham in Surry to Dover & Canterbury in Kent, following the famous Pilgrims Way route between Canterbury and Winchester. With loads of smaller routes within the trail, what better way for you to enjoy a days walking.

The North Downs Way is part of the 2,500 miles of Heritage Trails around the country and allows anybody to discover our wonderful landscapes and views within the countryside.

With regard to starting from Ashford, there are a number of short trails and walks for you to explore in a day’s walk.

You can explore these walks with the help of one of the many ‘free’ Lost Landscape Heritage Trail brochures. Walks and trails close to Ashford, Kent cover Charing, Chartham, Chilham, Cuxton, Hollingbourne and Wye Downs.

The brochures are filled with maps and information to help you make the most of your walk, with both short and longer trails available depending how much time or energy you have.

Lenham to Wye 11.1 miles (17.9 Km) (goes via Charing)
Wye to Etchinghill 11.2 miles (18.1 Km) (goes via the famous Devils Kneading Trough on Wye Downs)
Boughton Lees to Chilham 5.9 miles (9.5 Km) – The Canterbury Loop
Chilham to Canterbury 7.2 miles (11.6 Km)
